- Allegheny Front Trail
The Allegheny Front Trail (or AFT) hiking trail encircles Black Moshannon State Park. This 40 mile trail traverses some rocky, rugged portions of the Allegheny Plateau, passes along five different mountain trout streams and the Moshannon Creek, and includes 11 vistas along its circuit.
- Alpine Club of Williamsport
The Alpine Club was formed in 1953 as a way of maintaining the newly formed Loyalsock Trail. Today the club still maintains the trail through a series of work hikes in the spring, but also has monthly hikes in Northeastern Pennsylvania throughout the rest of the year.

- ClearWater Conservancy
ClearWater Conservancy of Central Pennsylvania land trust and natural resource conservation organization formed in 1980. Their mission is to promote conservation and restoration of natural resources in central Pennsylvania through land conservation, water resource protection, and environmental outreach to the community.
- Edward Abbey Hiking Society
Otzinachson Regional Group of the Sierra Club formed this hiking group with a active outing schedule along trails east of State College.
- Great Eastern Trail
In 2005 the American Hiking Society and the trails community proposed a major new trail system connecting more than 10,000 miles of eastern footpaths from Central New york to the panhandle of Florida. The first thru-hikers are expected in Spring of 2007.

- Keystone Trails Association

- Lower Trail - Rails to Trails
The Lower (pronounced like tower) Trail is a 16-mile recreational trail located on the abandoned Petersburg Branch of the old Pennsylvania Railroad. It follows the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata River between Flowing Springs (Blair County) and Alexandria (Huntingdon County). The Lower Trail is open to the public, free of charge, for hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and other forms of non-motorized recreation.
- Mid State Trail Association
The group of hikers who built and maintain the Pennsylvania Mid State Trail. Their website has information on the trail and their newsletters, called the Brushwhacker, that they publish on a quarterly basis
- Mount Nittany Conservacy
With nearly 9 miles of volunteer-maintained trails and scenic views, Mount Nittany offers a unique setting for local recreation. Since 1981, we have been working hard to protect Mount Nittany from commercial and residential development by acquiring land and maintaining areas already under the Conservancy's ownership.

- Standing Stone Trail Club
The Standing Stone Hiking Club maintains the Standing Stone Trail (formerly Link Trail)located in south central Pennsylvania. The Standing Stone Trail "links" the Mid State Trail in the center of the state to the Tuscarora Trail in the south. Over 72 miles in length, the Standing Stone Trail takes you along scenic ridges connecting Greenwood Furnace State Park to Cowan's Gap State Park.
- State College Bird Club
The Bird Club is a diverse local community who love wild birds and the natural world. The club is responsible for collecting and cataloguing important information on bird populations in central Pennsylvania. The Bird Club holds monthly meetings from September through May, and organized field trips from September through June (all open to the public).
- Stone Valley Recreational Area
This area includes a 72 - acre lake, a resident camp facility, a day use recreation site, the Shaver's Creek Environmental Center, and more than 700 acres of varied eco-systems. It is within the 7,000 acre Penn State University Experimental Forest.
